The World of Quartz Crystals

Have you ever collected pretty stones as a young child? I have noticed
that children are most frequently attracted to the colorful, sparkly stones
that they seem to find on the ground as they travel about. Almost always
they pick them up, bring them home, and make them part of their personal
treasure collections to be stored away in a very special place. Some landscaping
designs use decorator rocks and pebbles to create a specific look. Today,
you are even able to purchase polished river-stones that can be placed
in miniature, portable fountains that are now very popular for creating
the desired look and energy flow in your own home. More and more we are
seeing shops selling tumbled, polished crystals and small, natural rock
formations for home decor. There are even Rock and Gem Shows that are
held annually by rock hounding clubs for collectors to get together to
buy, sell, or trade their raw minerals or polished gems. The public is
also able to attend these shows and make purchases as well.
I have always been fond of rock collecting myself and found as a child,
I also had some very special stone treasures of my own. Now as an adult,
my interest in the mineralogical kingdom had increased to the point that
I wanted to learn more about these stones that I had been attracted to
place in my personal collection. I have found that there are quite a few
excellent books available for purchase that not only tell you what the
stone looks like, but also how they are formed. Sometimes they also suggest
how they could be used in a metaphysical manner to enhance a specific
purpose designated by the type of stone being used at the time. I also
have found a considerable amount of similar knowledge available by searching
the Internet.
Since there already is quite a large amount of information available about
minerals on the market, I was wondering what I would write about rocks
that would still be interesting and yet a bit different from the traditional
knowledge that I most frequently find. After some thought, I decided to
focus my attention on a specific group of Quartz crystals that have been
given special names according to the metaphysical properties that they
claim to be able to help us to develop.
Before I continue any further, I feel the need to mention the following
statement of my intent. This information is not scientific, nor medical
in its nature and should not replace proper medical treatment by a licensed
physician. The pieces of information given are only suggestions of how
one could use crystals to aid in the development of desired strengths
or qualities in a particular area that, through trial and error, others
have already had the experience of acquiring beneficial results. Although
I am sharing some of these findings, I cannot take responsibility for
any ill effects that may be produced as a result of using these crystals
in any of the suggested ways. It is always wise to first consult with
your physician before beginning anything new or different.
Natural Quartz comes in many shapes and forms. It most commonly grows
in a hexagonal (six-sided) shape that is labeled "the body" of the crystal.
It grows in an outward direction from a solid base that is often referred
to as the "Mother Rock". The crystalline structures vary in length due
to the availability of the necessary mineral compositions and actual space
for growth that is there at the time of formation.
Each of the six sides meet at the top of the crystal forming a triangular
shaped section generally called a "face" or "facet". When all the facets
meet at the outside furthermost tip of the crystal, they create an apex.
This apex is called "the terminated end" or a "termination". These terminations
can be formed in any direction and are frequently called "points" because
the six sides extend to an apex or point at the tip. If the crystal is
attached at the base on one end and it grows to a point on the other end,
the resulting crystal structure that is formed is called a "single termination".
Should the crystal be attached anywhere along one of the six sides, it
will grow to an apex in each direction, creating a point on both ends.
The resulting crystal structure that is formed in this manner is called
a "double termination". Since this type of growth formation is not as
commonly created as a single terminated structure, it is harder to find
a specimen if you want to add one to your collection. When you have a
"Mother Rock" with a lot of crystals still attached to its base, the resulting
formation is called a "cluster".
As these individual points grow on the "Mother" base, their shapes and
forms may vary due to such things as moisture, temperature, amount of
space for growth, or the addition or subtraction of other minerals and
chemicals available at the time of formation. All of these occurrences
cause the crystalline structures to form with slightly different faces.
In turn these uniquely individual faces give the crystal their special
qualities.
Now, more than ever, we are becoming interested in the beauty these naturally
faceted creations provide for us. Not only are these crystals esthetically
appealing to many, we are now becoming more aware that when we are near
certain stones, we begin to feel a number of different sensations. Some
of these sensations can be: feeling peaceful, feeling energized, feeling
elation while holding the stone, feeling warmth emanating from the stone
while holding it, and also tingling sensations can be experienced around
the area that the stone is touching. These are only a few of the sensations
that people are becoming more aware of at this time. This shows us that
these minerals are living structures, each with a unique energy of their
own. It is this uniqueness that has provided humanity with the idea that
these crystals could possibly be used as tools for assisting us in feeling
or behaving a certain way. A lot of the time, the information that was
gathered and shared was uncovered through the direct usage of different
minerals for specific purposes in a trial and error system of discovery.
Through the documentation of the metaphysical results that were experienced
while using the crystal in that specific manner, we were able to recreate
similar particular effects when re-applying the same system for different
human subjects. Sometimes during meditation with an actual stone in your
hand, information would be received suggesting that a particular type
of crystal could be used in a different manner than previously known.
All of this information has been documented, shared, and passed about
between people, thusly causing more and more possibilities of how we can
implement the gifts freely and lovingly given to us from these living
crystal energies for something more than just their magnificent, esthetic
beauty.
Even though Quartz crystals are all slightly different in appearance,
there are certain similarities that can be found due to the fact that
they are all formed from orderly, mathematical, geometric, grid-like structures.
It is these particular similarities that are used in identifying the specific
category of characteristics that created the special names that these
crystals have been given. These Quartz crystals have been given the name
of "Master Crystals" because of the unique qualities that they will readily
share with humankind to help us to become the best we can be.
When working with crystals or any minerals in a metaphysical manner, you
will be dealing with the energies that they exude and share. For optimum
results and the continued excellence in performance from your crystal's
energies in the provision of assistance, they will need to be energetically
cleansed and recharged on a regular basis. There are many different ways
that this can be accomplished. I will list a few of the most common methods
available. It doesn't really matter which method you use; only that you
USE a method.
1. Place the crystals outside in the sunlight for a day.
2. Place the crystals outside in the moonlight for a night.
3. Wash the crystals with tepid (warm) water while visualizing all negativity
being washed out of them and going down the drain. (Be careful that
you don't lose the actual stone down the drain as well.)
4. Smudge the crystal with sage, cedar, and/or sweet grass or a combination
of all three.
5. Bury the crystals (in a place that you will remember where they are)
in the earth for twenty-four hours.
6. Use the white-light of the Universe to cleanse the crystal of all negativity
by passing it through the crystal and pushing out all of the negativity
as it flows through. At the same time ask the white-light to recharge
the crystal for the purpose for which you intend to use the stone.
7. Place the crystals in the freezer for a while. (Be careful not to drop
them though, as they will shatter more easily when chilled.)
8. Place the stones in a Quartz Singing Bowl and proceed to tone the bowl
with the toning wand.
9. Place the crystals in sea salt. (Least favorable method.)
10. Place the individual stones on a Quartz Cluster for at least twenty-four
hours.
The more you use your crystals, the more often you should cleanse the
energies within the stones. I cleanse my crystals when I first acquire
them and then again after each time I use them.
The following list consists of some of the many "Master Quartz Crystals"
that are available for our use. I will include the name of the "Master",
how to visually identify what they look like, and a brief description
of how they could be used to enhance certain skills or traits we already
possess or wish to develop. The uses of these crystals shouldn't be limited
to the few suggestions given here, so let the list simply be a starting
place to begin your new relationship with the energies that are available
from the mineralogical kingdom to anyone with the sincere desire to experience
and grow.
Types of Master Crystals
Bridge Crystal:
Description - A smaller crystal either protrudes partially in
or out of a larger crystal, creating the "bridge".
Properties -"bridges" between inner and outer worlds.
- helps with teaching skills.
- helps with public speaking skills.
Cathedral Lightbrary:
Description - One larger point with many smaller triangular faces
attached on the sides of the crystal and merging upward toward the
point.
Properties - aids in accessing the Akashic Records (information
of past, present, and future).
- aids in accessing wisdom and knowledge.
- aids in accessing personal information for growth.
Channeling:
Description - One large seven-sided face on the front of the
crystal with a triangular shaped face directly opposite it on the
backside.
Properties -can assist with channeling information from your higher
self or light-beings from the higher dimensions. (e.g. Angels or Spirit
Guides)
Cluster:
Description - Several points that are still attached to the
"Mother Rock" base.
Properties - capable of regenerating and clearing other stones.
- absorbs negative energies.
- gives off positive energies.
Double Terminated:
Description - This crystal has a point or apex on both ends.
Properties - the energy can flow in the crystal from either direction
and out again from the other end.
- negative energy that flows in one end is transmuted from negative to
positive in the middle and flows out the other end changed to positive
energy, enabling one to feel better.
Elestial:
Description - There are multiple triangularly shaped faces appearing
all over the body of the crystal.
Properties - the crystal contains ancient knowledge and information.
- it assists with communication from the Celestial Realms.
Isis:
Description - It is a face that consists of five sides (preferably
symmetrical) that look like a triangular shaped face with the bottom
two corners of the base of the triangle looking like they were chopped
off.
Properties - it is used in balancing any dualities (that's why
a symmetrically shaped face is preferred).
- it can be used to transmit knowledge about how to balance the dualities
as well.
Key:
Description - A crystal with a three or six-sided graduated
indentation anywhere on the crystal body.
Properties -the crystal assists with finding a solution to the
problem being queried about.
Rainbow:
Description - Any fracture located within the crystal that is
multi-colored like a rainbow.
Properties - it helps us in dealing with negativity.
- it is a constant reminder of Universal Love.
- it can be used equally well on any of our chakras (energy centers) for
clearing away negativity.
Record Keeper:
Description - If one or more small raised triangular shaped
objects appear on any of the faces, the crystal contains records.
The triangles that are raised are very tiny and can have straight or slightly
curved edges. (straight edges represent stored Atlantean records that
are enclosed and slightly curved edges represent stored Lemurian
records that are enclosed).
Properties - the records contain ancient knowledge and information.
- usually you are only attracted to the stones that have the information
within them that is meant for you.
Seer:
Description - It is a river tumbled piece of clear Quartz that
has been sliced open and the sliced sides polished so
that the inside can be gazed into.
Properties - can be used for "crystal gazing". It is like looking
into a crystal ball for information.
- it is possible to be able to view ancient texts by using this "gazing"
method of retrieving information.
Self-healed:
Description - This is a crystal that has been broken sometime
during its growth period. It has healed itself and has kept on growing,
leaving a visible scar (crack or split) where the injury was.
Properties -this is an excellent stone for self-healing, as well
as in healing others.
Transmitter:
Description - This is a crystal with two, seven-sided faces
joined by a perfect, symmetrically shaped triangular face.
Properties - this crystal can be used for absentee healing purposes
(sending healing to someone or something that is not physically present
at the time of the healing).
- it can also be used for transmitting information back and forth between
different realms.
Window:
Description - It is a large diamond shaped window that appears
in the center of the crystal. It almost looks like it
was added to the stone after it was formed, but it actually has grown
that way naturally. It allows the
inside of the crystal to be viewed more easily.
Properties - it aids the person using the crystal to be able to
better see inside of themselves.
- it helps us to be able to understand ourselves more.
Once again the above-mentioned "Crystal Masters" are only a few
of the many that are available to assist us in our own personal quest
for growth. I have noticed that different authors may call similarly shaped
faces by different names even though they have the same description of
what they should look like. All this really means is the information is
not limited to one-way, one-name only. It is as flexible and multi-purposed
as one would care to develop.
Since we are living in the Age of Aquarius, more and more of the "Crystal
Masters" will continue to make themselves known to us as the need for
their specialized information arises.
There are also several different styles of "Crystal Courses" being taught
to increase your personal experience with these amazing "Masters" that
have been here since the beginning of the ages. I find a great variety
of information about the different minerals, their composition, and uses
in "New Age Book Centers" that are located in many different cities though
out the country. If you are fortunate enough to have access to the Internet,
I have also found a lot of information using specific word searches on
the many available search engines out there.
I hope I have shared enough information with you that your own mind will
have been triggered sufficiently to cause you to desire to seek out additional
specific knowledge that could benefit your personal needs even more.
