Have you ever questioned the process of aging? When you start to embrace the understanding and the knowledge that you are an Angelic Being having a human experience then your perspective on life also changes. It only made sense to us to have a look at what we call aging and the biology around it. One of the really pleasant phenomena that can transpire with your awakening is you start to look younger. With many people on a conscious spiritual path, the changing of ones diet to a healthier format seems to be a natural transition. You just plain feel better about yourself eating healthier and on an energetic level, there are enormous benefits that are also realized by so many. Working with nutrition and supplementation has led me to some interesting research and observations about aging. In many families you can watch as your mother turns into your Grandmother at a certain age and an older sister or even an aunt starts acting and aging just like your mother at that age. How many of us have heard things like, "well you are at that age now so that's when the weight goes on." Or how about this one, "once you reach forty your body just can't handle things anymore." Is it really just heredity or does everyone age in a similar way? Research has shown that certain parts of the body do tend to 'break down' under what society calls normal wear. Researching more and more with people who have switched their way of thinking from that of 'normal society' to a more whole life and spiritual approach, there was a definite correlation between not only healthier lifestyles and those people looking younger but also a slowing down of the aging process it self. One of the main denominators that showed up as different from the 'Normal behavior' and those on a conscious spiritual path is the ability to handle the stresses in life. With a spiritual perspective comes the understanding that there is no right or wrong but only life lessons and with that an ability to accept the responsibility for what comes into ones life. This perspective leads to an acceptance that you are not a victim of life but a co-creator and therefore these people tend to not stress out or lead stress driven lives. They have also incorporated into their lives stress management "time outs" if you will. The bottom line as we see it, is that we have come to understand stress is a major factor in aging and in maintaining optimum health. So how do we deal with it? I mean there is more than just what will call negative stress in our lives. Stress can also be generated from the positive and fun things as well. Having a child for instance. For most people that is a wonderful occurrence and a most joyous time. But I think we can all agree that children from the time they are conceived, delivered and then the caring for them all equals stress. Not necessarily emotionally or mentally (but that is there also) but physically on a biological level. It's stressful! So this had us thinking about how the body deals with stress. Under stress (negative or positive) the body produces adrenaline. Ah, you have all heard of that. Those wonderful mighty little adrenal glands. Stop for a minute and think of all the times they must have kicked in when you were a small child play actively. Ever wonder where they get that boundless energy from and why at forty you cannot keep up with them? What about your teen years and your early twenties? Do you remember all night studying for exams and perhaps partying like you will live forever? Were you an athlete perhaps, pushing and training for that ultimate performance? All these times and events call on the adrenal glands for support. Then there are the thirties, by now you have survived starting your career or that first big job, moving out on your own, getting married and starting a family. All of these things are and should be joyous times, but they also require energy. On occasion, major bursts of energy and sometimes for sustained periods of time. There go those adrenals again. So just what supports the adrenals? Our food? In most cases people do not eat healthy and even with the eating of fruits and vegetables we have all been aware or should be made aware of the fact, if you are not growing your own organic food, you really do not know for sure what has been done with it or to it. Reading labels are all well a good but the legislation as to what producers and manufactures can call things today requires constant research to stay aware and informed. (For information on ways to support your adrenal glands check out the article from our Spring Issue 2002 posted on the website called, "DNA Activation and the Divine Shifts - Nutritional Support for Transition") Now for us, we thought is was very interesting that as we get older the body starts to break down and we put together the realization that once the adrenals are tired and used up, do to an inability to replenish themselves, that what happens is the body will start to take from other organs and glands, hence the 'breaking down' of the biology of our bodies. Those people who as a result of lifestyle choices have learned to manage stress, they give the adrenals the opportunity to replenish. Perhaps this is a main reason why once on a spiritual path, one starts to look younger and aging slows down. So what do the rest
of the people do who are not drawn at this time to pursue spiritual enlightenment,
meditation, yoga, tai chi or some other form of stress management? Are
they just destine to age or fall prey to disease? Not necessarily. Adrenal
supplementation is available. There are many good brands and options out
there and a qualified counselor at a health food store can help you determine
what is best for you. Even if you do live a lifestyle that deals with
stress management, the taking of adrenal supplements can help you to regain
biological balance and replenish this hardworking little gland so that
you give yourself the best possible defense against aging and disease.
Life equals stress - that is just the way it is. Living does not
have to equal poor life quality, as you get older. Combine this
with supporting the immune system and addressing personal nutritional
deficiencies and you will have a fighting chance to enjoy a fuller life
into your fifties, sixties and seventies. Yes, every year we get older,
but every year we don not have to feel old. The choice is yours.
